Isaiah Chisolm, Logan Dorsey and Oliver Stavdal scored the Cats’ three goals to take the match over the Golden Eagles.

The men’s team took to the pitch after a 2-0 women’s soccer win over Detroit Mercy to close the evening’s doubleheader. Chisholm, a right-footer from Yorktown, Va., scored the match’s first goal in just 11 minutes of action. He was assisted by fellow sophomore Josh Gordon.

UK held the advantage for another 11 minutes before ORU answered with a goal of their own. The match was tied 1-1 at halftime.

It wouldn’t be until the 76-minute mark the Wildcats would score again as senior forward Dorsey rolled in a ball to put the Cats up 2-1. Joel Gonzalez, a sophomore, dropped the ball into the box, which was initially saved by the ORU keeper before connecting with Dorsey to earn the assist. The ORU keeper was penalized with a red card during the celebration of the Kentucky goal.

ORU responded quickly with another goal of their own in the 78th minute.

Kentucky finally put away the match in its final minutes when freshman newcomer Stavdal earned the game-winning score thanks to a hockey assist from Gordon and fellow freshman Bertil Alban. The right-footed shot from the top of the box nabbed the upper left corner of the net, just past the ORU keeper.

The Wildcats will return to action at the Bell Soccer Complex on Sept. 2, hosting Virginia Tech. The match will raise awareness for pediatric cancer, partnering with All In For Miller, Ronald McDonald House and UK Children’s Hospital.
