Cumulus Broadcasting hosted the annual "Stuff the Bus" event at the Paul Miller Ford dealership, helping gather supplies for FCPS families.

Row after row, school supplies were piled on seats of a bus parked in front of the dealership. FCPS will distribute the supplies to students in need.

“We are here to help support our families and our children at Fayette County Public Schools by, literally, stuffing this school bus,” said Carolyn Ford, FCPS family and community engagement liaison.

On average, families of students in elementary through high school plan to spend more than $870 on clothes, school supplies and electronics, according to a 2024 survey conducted by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics.

“It’s really important that we don’t leave kids behind, just because their parents might not have the financial stability to purchase all these things because it is expensive," said Melissa Miller, promotions director of Cumulus Broadcasting, which organizes the "Stuff the Bus" events. "It's very expensive when you get all the supplies that they need and some people just don’t have it."

The district accepts donations throughout the school year to continue to provide students with supplies. There is an Amazon Wishlist and a website to make a monetary donation.
