LEXINGTON, Ky. — The state’s second largest school district is preparing for the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. Fayette County Public Schools teachers and about 40,000 students in Lexington will soon return to classrooms.


What You Need To Know

  • The first day of school for Fayette County Public Schools students is Wednesday, Aug. 14

  • Pending any makeup days, the last day of school is slated for Wednesday, May 28

  • Fall break is Sept. 30- Oct. 4 and Winter break is Dec. 23-Jan. 6

  • Spring break is April 7-11
