LEXINGTON, Ky. — The state’s second largest school district is preparing for the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. Fayette County Public Schools teachers and about 40,000 students in Lexington will soon return to classrooms.
The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 14 and the last day of school is currently slated for Wednesday, May 28, pending any makeup days.
Here are the important dates to know for the 2024-25 school year:
Aug. 14: First day of school for students
Aug. 23: No school for students
Sept. 2: Labor Day
Sept. 30-Oct. 4: Fall break
Nov. 5: Election Day
Nov. 27-29: Thanksgiving break
Dec. 23-Jan. 6: Winter break
Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Feb. 17: Presidents Day
April 7-11: Spring break
May 20: Election primaries; no classes for students
May 26: Memorial Day
May 28: Last day of school for students
