LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As we get closer to the start of a new school year, Jefferson County Public Schools wants to make sure parents get the information they need regarding transportation.

JCPS has set up a special hotline to answer questions. The number is 485-RIDE (7433). JCPS will have operators answering calls from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. five days a week through the first several days of school. Classes for JCPS begin Aug. 8. The hours of the hotline may be adjusted depending on the number of calls it is receiving.

The district also announced a new Bus Teller portal opened. Bus Teller allows parents/guardians to see the bus stop their child has been assigned. According to the district, the transportation team has worked to match bus riders with the closest bus stop. According to a news release from JCPS, bus stop information will be uploaded and updated every day. JCPS encourages everyone to look at the site often. The online site is active beginning Monday, July 22.

Families needing bus transportation will have to wait until the week of Aug. 12. The district is in a “freeze period,” where it won’t add any new stops. Parents had until Monday, July 22 to fill out a Transportation Verification Form. JCPS wants to see how well the bus routing system works before adding any more stops.
