LEXINGTON, Ky. — The basketball battle for the Bluegrass is set for Dec. 14 at Rupp Arena in Lexington.

Kentucky men’s basketball will host the University of Louisville men’s squad in the first match up between new head coaches Mark Pope and Pat Kelsey. Tip off time and TV designation for the game have not yet been set.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series 39-17. The two programs have met every season since 1983, except in 2021-22 season when the rivalry game was canceled because of COVID-related issues. Before 1983, the teams had not met in regular season play for 62 years.

The 2024-25 match up will be the first time since 1915-16 that the series has featured new head coach coaches at both schools.
