BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — A company known as MyXR, Inc. will call Bowling Green its new home.

According to a news release, MyXR, Inc. will support emerging technology by building “a global augmented reality, AI and engagement ecosystem to optimize and empower the everyday experience of sports, work, entertainment and community worldwide.” 

The company’s mission is to expand opportunities and jobs for businesses and nonprofits across the state. 

But why did MyXR, Inc. chairman Hans Koch choose Bowling Green as its headquarters? According to Koch, Bowling Green checked all the boxes. 

“It’s little bit like that freshmen year of high school lunch, when you don’t know what lunch table you want to sit at,” Koch said. “And you go to this one, this one, and this one, and you finally find one that’s just right.”

“It was the people, the presence, the initiative, the innovation, everything that was here, was exactly right for us,” he added.

According to the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, the city has flourished in economic development, ranking second in the U.S. for the best manufacturing city, as well as creating thousands of jobs in the past decade. 

And according to Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Ron Bunch, MyXR, Inc. will add to it.

“What he’s really doing is that he will bring an engagement in marketing that will help our businesses compete and succeed, plus he’ll be growing the company, which will help the economy,” Bunch said.

MyXR, Inc. will start off in a small, 1,200 square foot room at WKU’s Innovation Campus, but hopes to grow as the team expands.

“As we get started, it’s going to feel intimate,” Koch said. “Now, the more we grow, we’re probably going to have to expand with other places. But right now, for this first team, it’s going to be super important to get everybody together to feel that teamwork and community that they already bring to the table.”

And as the company grows, the hope is, jobs will follow.

“It’s becoming more intrinsic in our everyday lives, and to make sure that those jobs are coming here to Kentucky, and we are innovating right here,” Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman, D-Ky., said “That promises jobs not only for today but also for the next generations.”

The company will outreach to other local businesses and nonprofits to help them grow with artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality technology.
