LEXINGTON, Ky. — The man accused of shooting and killing Scott County Deputy Caleb Conley has been officially charged with the crime.

Steven Sheangshang is charged with six crimes, including murder of a police officer, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, burglary, fleeing or evading police and theft by unlawful taking of an automobile.

The arrest citation also gave a timeline of events that happened on May 22. Around 2:47 p.m., Conley pulled over a car that was being driven by Sheangshang. While Conley was walking up to the car, he was shot.

Sheangshang then drove away, allegedly stole a car in Georgetown, then drove that car to Lexington, where he allegedly shot another person and took their car.

He was arrested roughly 12 hours later in Lexington at 2 a.m.

In the arrest report, police said a .44 magnum revolver was found with Sheangshang when he was arrested.

Sheangshang is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, May 30. He is currently in Fayette County Jail.
