LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The group that taught a generation to play “Toys in the Attic” and “Walk This Way,” is now saying “Peace Out” to their fans.
Four-time Grammy award-winners, Aerosmith, are bringing their farewell tour to the KFC Yum! Center in Jan. 7, 2024.
The Black Crowes will join Steven Tyler and Joe Perry and the rest of Aerosmith on the tour.
For over 50 years, the boys from Boston have been entertaining fans with their brash brand of blues-based rock. The group says this tour will celebrate their half century of music and hits. In the tour announcement, Aerosmith said, “It’s not goodbye, it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
The 40-date tour kicks off in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sept. 2 and will roll through some of the largest arenas in the U.S. and Canada. Their stop in Louisville will be the first time the band has ever played the KFC Yum! Center.
Since 1971, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer have entertained countless numbers of fans. But drummer Kramer will miss the tour. In a statement, the band says Kramer will focus on his family and health.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
This isn't the first time Kramer hasn’t been with the band. In 2020, Kramer sued the band after he said he wasn’t allowed to play or to accept the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award with his bandmates. Three weeks later, Kramer re-joined the band in Las Vegas. Last year, Kramer’s wife, Linda, died. They had been married for almost 13 years.
The tour’s opening act is a familiar blues-based act as well. Atlanta’s Black Crowes flew onto the music scene in 1990 with their album “Shake Your Money Maker.” Filled with hits such as “Jealous Again,” “Hard To Handle” and “She Talks To Angels,” the album helped the Crowes top Rolling Stone magazine’s “Best New American Band Readers Poll.”
The Black Crowes have since released 12 albums, four of which are live albums.
Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, May 5 at 10 a.m. and start at $59.95 and go all the way up to $499.95. Fans can get their tickets online.
