BARDSTOWN,Ky — It’s been over eight years since Crystal Rogers was reported missing and the case has not been closed. Last year, the FBI honed in on a property south of Bardstown, a farm owned by the Houck family on Pascal Ballard Lane.
Here is what we know about the case up until this point:
Sept. 27, 2023
Brooks Houck is arrested on charges stemming from the Crystal Rogers investigation by the FBI of Louisville and Kentucky State Police. Houck was Rogers' boyfriend at the time of her disappearance.
Sept. 7, 2023
Joseph Lee Lawson, 32 , is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence in Rogers' death. According to court records, Lawson was charged with tampering in June and murder in July. The court ordered both records to be sealed.
Oct. 17, 2022
FBI agents search a farm in Bardstown where Crystal Rogers was last seen before she disappeared seven years ago. The FBI’s Louisville office announced that agents were conducting “judicially authorized activity” at 345 Paschal Ballard Lane, which is a farm owned by the family of Brooks Houck, Rogers’ boyfriend at the time of her disappearance.

FBI announces it is conducting several searches in a Bardstown subdivision concerning Rogers’ case.

FBI reports that the remains found in July do not belong to Rogers.

FBI identifies a new area of interest near Poplar Flats Road and Farmaway Drive in Bardstown. FBI asks Bardstown residents to remember where they were during the early hours of July 4, 2015, especially if they were in the area.
Aug. 6, 2020
FBI Louisville announces it will be the lead agency in Rogers’ case and spends the day searching the home of main suspect Brooks Houck, Rogers’ boyfriend. FBI Louisville also launches the Crystal Rogers Task Force website.

Possible human remains are discovered near the Nelson and Washington county line. Rogers’ family is notified about the unidentified remains, and they are sent for testing in Quantico, Virginia.

Rogers’ father, Tommy Ballard, is shot and killed on family property near Bluegrass Parkway in Bardstown.

Rogers is reported missing by her mother, Sherry Ballard. Her car is found abandoned with a flat tire at mile marker 14 on the Bluegrass Parkway in Bardstown, Kentucky. Rogers’ keys, phone and purse are still inside the red Chevrolet Impala.
