It was announced Thursday the FBI would be the lead agency in the case. FBI Louisville is working with several federal, state, and local partners on the case, including the Internal Revenue Service, the Kentucky State Police, and the United State Attorney's Office.
150 state and federal law enforcement officers began executing nine federal search warrants and plan to conduct over fifty interviews in Bardstown, announced FBI Louisville. At Houck's house, agents confiscated a computer, five or six rifles, and numerous boxes over the course of the day.
Neighbors looked on throughout the day as agents combed through the house. "We’ve been waiting for this day to come for five years, for the closure for the family and for ourselves,” said Cheryl Mattingly, who told Spectrum News she lived just down the street from Hauck.
"I never thought the family would have closure,” added Phil Clayton, another neighbor who walked down the street with Mattingly to observe the scene. "Hopefully they have closure and all, and that this is for real and all. From what I understand, it pretty well is. Thank God for it coming.”
On Twitter, FBI Louisville also announced there is a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone with information on Rogers's disappearance.
In addition, FBI Louisville launched a website dedicated to Rogers' case.
After the FBI left Houck's home, Houck jumped on his riding mower and began mowing his lawn.
Earlier this month, potential human remains were discovered in Bardstown, and officials notified Rogers' family. The remains are being examined in Quantico, Va.
