Investigators uncovered an "item of interest" in the case on Friday. The department plans to continue its efforts "for as long as it takes," but there's no timeline right now on when the search could conclude.

Officials started an inquiry into the Woodlawn Springs subdivision on Tuesday, honing in on three houses built by a company owned by Brooks Houck, Rogers' then-boyfriend who shared a child with her. Houck has not been charged in the investigation.

Law enforcement on site has said none of the homeowners of the properties are part of the investigation, they're focused on just the property itself.

Officials confirmed that sonar equipment and cadaver dogs have been utilized in the search. Witnesses saw crews excavating dirt and concrete from one of the home's driveway on Wednesday.

Rogers, a mother of five, went missing from Bardstown in July 2015. In August 2020, FBI Louisville announced it was taking over the case.

In July of last year, remains were found near the borders of Washington and Nelson counties. The FBI sent them to Quantico, Virginia, where the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) helped identify the remains; however, they were not Rogers'.
