LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Some 4,100 GE Appliance Park employees are set to vote on a proposed labor contract Monday, Dec. 7. This will mark the third labor contract vote in just as many months.
What You Need To Know

- Union lists heath care and wages as top concerns for members
- If passed, all members would receive $1,500 payment Dec. 18
In a recent memo, the union representing the employees, IUE CWA Local 83761, said wages and health care were top concerns as to why members rejected similar proposals in September and again in October.
The union said the latest proposed contract aims to address that. Items in the new proposed contract include:
- A majority of raises would be front loaded. The union said instead of waiting one or two years to see raies, that would take effect on the day of ratification.
- The latest proposal would be a four-year contract. The ones previously rejected were three-year contract proposals.
- The union said health care would remain the same as the previous agreement.
- Employees would have the option to purchase an extra week of vacation at the rate of pay you have when you enroll in the program.
The union also said many of the hourly employees would get an immediate $1.50 hourly raise. The memo from IUE-CWA Local 83761 also said all eligible members would receive a $1,500 cash payment on Dec. 18, if the proposed contract is approved.
Members will vote from 3 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Union Hall Monday.
