LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Union members at GE Appliance Park turned down the proposed contract between GE Appliances and IUE-CWA Local 83761.

"We are extremely disappointed that employees did not vote to accept the most recent proposed contract. For the second time, the proposal was unanimously endorsed by the IUE-CWA negotiating team at the local and national levels. For months, we have actively engaged in open dialogue and negotiated a very competitive contract," said GE Appliances Senior Director of Corporate Communications Julie Wood in a statement. "This agreement offered substantial wage gains, no increases in payroll contributions for healthcare for three years, additional flexibility to manage work and personal life, and other added benefits."
According to the union's Facebook page, 57% voted against the contract.
Polls have closed and results are tallied. The membership has responded with a 57% vote for rejection. Details will be communicated when they become available.

On Monday, GE announced it had reached an agreement with union leadership on a revised three-year labor contract proposal. Union members took to the polls Thursday.
GE released details about the proposed contract, which included a $1,500 payment this December, night shift bonuses, Paid Parental Leave benefits, and more.
Wood said manufacturing operations will remain business at usual at Appliance Park, and the company will evaluate potential next steps.
