LOS ANGELES, Ca. - Tim Conway, the hysterical sidekick to Carol Burnett, died Tuesday in Los Angeles after a long illness. He was 85 years old.

The six-time Emmy Award winner was part of the ensemble cast of Burnett's show.  The Carol Burnett Show aired on CBS from 1967 through 1978 and also included Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, and Lyle Waggoner.  Conway became a regular on the show in 1975 after being a frequent guest. Some of his most famous characters on the show were "The Old Man" and "Mr. Tudball."

Born December 15, 1933 in Willoughby, Ohio, Conway would not only make a splash with Carol Burnett, but also made audiences laugh in such shows as McHale's Navy and with his character "Dorf." He continued to make guest appearances on television including on  Coach and 30 Rock.  In addition to television work, Conway starred in Disney's 1975 film The Apple Dumpling GangThe Prize Fighter and The Private Eyes.
