KENTUCKY — Back in the year 1996, the month of November was first declared as Military Family Month. Since then, November has been a time to acknowledge the tremendous sacrifices our military families make.

During this In Focus Kentucky segment, we learn the story about a Vietnam veteran who has taken the darkest moments in her life and now uses it to teach other veterans and others about the importance of reaching out during a mental health crisis. Multimedia journalist Jonathon Gregg tells us how a former combat nurse is still serving her community 50 years after returning home from war.

Also during this segment, multimedia journalist Geraldine Torrellas travels to Nicholasville in Jessamine County where hundreds gathered at Camp Nelson National Cemetery for the annual Veteran’s Day ceremony honoring and celebrating the men and women who served our country.
