Lead MMJ Jonathon Gregg is a self-proclaimed, “farm kid.” Jonathon grew up in eastern Iowa, milking cows, de-tasseling corn and bailing hay.

Jonathon says these experiences taught him the value of hard work but it’s also why Jonathon relates so well to people he meets on assignment. He is a working-class journalist and proud of it. The 5-time Emmy award-winning reporter joins Spectrum News 1 after almost six years as a reporter at WITI-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
For his efforts, Jonathon has received honors from the National Press Photographers Association for reporting and editing as a “Solo Video Journalist.” What does that mean? Well, a SVJ or MMJ (Multimedia Journalist) does it all, including: shoot video, write, and edit. In 2018, Jonathon was honored at the Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmys with an award for “Best Reporter.” Mr. Gregg is a past board member of the Iowa Broadcast News Association board and has shared his professional experiences speaking at journalism conferences in the Midwest. Outside of “News” you can find Jonathon attending theatre performances, live comedy and concerts at The Brown Theatre, Headliners and Iroquois Park Amphitheater. Feel free to send him story ideas and restaurant tips to his email or Twitter account.
