LOS ANGELES — Justin Sather loves frogs and can tell you all about his favorite animal.

“It’s really cool that they’re, like, sensitive to the environment,” he said.

As an indicator species, frogs reflect the state of the environment around them, and right now, they’re telling us our planet needs help.

“People cutting down their homes, pollution and pesticides,” said Sather of the biggest threats to his beloved amphibians.

Sather's formula, therefore, became simple: Save the planet, save the frogs.

When he was in kindergarten, Justin founded his own organization, For the Love of Frogs. Now 10 years old, Justin has raised over $20,000 through social campaigns to help conserve the planet.

Most recently, Sather has been working to save the rainforest in Ecuador. He partnered with Reserva and has raised enough money to protect 28 acres of land.

Sheri, Sather's mom, has been by his side for every step of his quest. She explained that by fighting for something, she and her son are learning to become brave together.

"If you put your heart into it and you overcome the fear, and you stay determined to put your message out, things will get easier and easier for you," Sheri said. "Really, it’s been a journey for me as well to learn how to be brave, to teach him how to be brave."

Sather's passion to protect has expanded his world. He understands that everything on this planet is connected and wants other kids to realize they have the power to make a change too. His million-letter campaign is helping him raise money to protect more acres of rainforest.

"Every letter you write, you raise $3 for the rainforest," he said. "You need 244 acres to raise one acre of land."

But Sather is not stopping there.

"My goal is to protect 30% of the planet by 2030."
