The 2023 Wisconsin gun deer season opens on Saturday, Nov. 18, and if you’re heading out to hunt, the weather may be on your side.

What You Need To Know

  • Morning temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s

  • Afternoon highs will be in the 40s and low 50s

  • Plenty of sunshine and light winds are expected

After a fairly windy end to the week, the breeze will calm a bit for the upcoming weekend so you may hear those deer rustling in the brush after all. Expect a north to northwesterly wind around 5 to 15 mph both Saturday and Sunday.

Morning temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s, but will warm into the 40s and 50s by the afternoon. You may need to bundle up a bit in the morning while sitting in your blinds or bring a thermos of hot coffee with you if you plan to head out early.

A few more clouds are likely in northern Wisconsin on Saturday compared to the rest of the state, which can expect a sunny to mostly sunny start to the weekend.

Temperatures on Sunday will be in the 40s across much of the state with some parts of southwestern Wisconsin climbing into the lower 50s. We will see plenty of sunshine throughout the day, with just a few passing clouds.

The weather looks to stay quiet through most of next week with temperatures mainly in the 40s.
