Kristin Ketchell has always had a love for weather. For her, meteorology is more than just a job; it’s a passion, and she describes her day to day as never feeling like work. The ability to inform people about something that impacts their lives each and every day and to help keep them safe is ever-inspiring for Kristin. Not to mention that living in a place with such weather extremes is a meteorologist’s dream come true.
One of Kristin’s most memorable weather stories was her coverage of Hurricane Florence and its devastating impact on the city of Wilmington, North Carolina. With damages cutting the city from the rest of the state, Kristin recalls how pertinent it was for her as a weather forecaster to continuously keep people up to date on the dangerous and changing conditions. Kristin takes her responsibility to our audience seriously, and her commitment has not gone unnoticed. She is a proud recipient of the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal from the American Meteorological Society and was awarded the 2018 Anchor Team of the Year and the 2017 Weathercaster of the Year from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
Kristin describes living in Wisconsin as being surrounded by some of the kindest and most interesting people she’s been fortunate enough to meet. A growing state with a mix of everything from city life to beach life to farm life, Wisconsin has something for everyone. When Kristin isn’t predicting the latest weather pattern, you can find her spending time with her two children and two dogs.
