MILWAUKEE — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is holding fishing clinics for kids ages 15-years-old and younger on Saturday in parks across Milwaukee and Washington counties.

This will mark the 40th year of the DNR hosting youth fishing clinics.


What You Need To Know

  • The clinics are free, and are open to kids ages 15-years-old and younger

  • The clinics will teach children how to fish and be safe around water

The fishing clinics are free. Kids will learn how to fish and be safe around water, as well as take part in games and crafts.

The clinics will be held at eight Milwaukee County parks and one Washington County park on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Parks hosting the clinics include:  

  • Brown Deer Park, 7835 N. Green Bay Road, Milwaukee
  • Dineen Park, 6901 W. Vienna Avenue, Milwaukee
  • Greenfield Park, 2028 S. 124th Street, West Allis
  • Kosciuszko Park, 2201 S. 7th Street, Milwaukee 
  • McCarty Park, 8214 W. Cleveland Avenue, West Allis
  • Mitchell Park, 524 S. Layton Boulevard, Milwaukee
  • Sheridan Park, 4800 S. Lake Drive, Cudahy
  • Scout Lake, 6201 W. Loomis Road, Greendale
  • Regner Park, 800 N. Main Street, West Bend

Fishing equipment will be available to borrow, although the DNR recommends people bring their own gear if they have any. 

Registration is not required for groups smaller than 20 people. Kids must also be accompanied by an adult.
