WISCONSIN — It’s that time of year again. The Canadian Pacific Kansas Holiday Train is coming to town starting this weekend.
Over three days, from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9, the Holiday Train will visit a handful of Wisconsin towns. It’s part of a larger tour throughout the U.S. and Canada, which began on Nov. 21. The tour continues through Dec. 20.
Each stop features a half-hour live concert. Nashville-based trio The Lone Bellow and rising Alabama native singer/songwriter Tiera Kennedy are the musical guests for the Wisconsin events.
While the event is free, guests are encouraged to make a donation of cash or a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. All donations go toward local efforts.
Since the first year of the train’s journey in 1999, it has raised more than $24.3 million and collected about 5.3 million pounds of food.
“The Holiday Train unites people in the spirit of the season as it travels across Canada and the United States, while generating critical support for our neighbours in need through the program’s support of local food banks. We are pleased to again send this magical train on a four-week trip across our network spreading holiday joy as we collect food and raise money to fight food insecurity. We look forward to seeing all the smiles and cheers from people young and old coming together in the spirit of giving,” said Keith Creel, CPKC president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
