ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — Both presidential candidates made their way to Wisconsin on Wednesday to speak with supporters just less than a week away from the Nov. 5 election.

On Wednesday evening, former President Donald Trump made a stop to the swing state of Wisconsin. He held a rally at the Resch Center, right outside of Lambeau Field.

Thousands of people were in attendance, all in support of the former president. During his speech, Trump spoke on how important the state of Wisconsin is to this election.

“If we win Wisconsin, I don’t know if you know, this is a very important political state,” Trump said. “If we win Wisconsin, we win this whole thing,”

When Trump arrived at the Green Bay airport, he was picked up in a garbage truck that said “Make America Great Again” on the side of it. This all happened just one day after President Joe Biden reportedly called Trump's supporters “garbage."

During his rally, Trump spoke about why he wanted to make light of the situation by showing up in a garbage truck while in the Fox Valley.

“One of my people came in and said, 'Sir, you know the word garbage is the hottest thing out there?' He said, 'Sir, would you like to drive a garbage truck?'”

Wisconsin Democratic Coordinated Campaign Rapid Response Director Kristi Johnston issued the following statement about Trump’s trip to Green Bay:

“Donald Trump is increasingly unstable and unhinged, focused on himself and his own grievances instead of American families. That is why Green Bay’s Republican state Senator Robert Cowles has joined with dozens of other Republicans, independents, and Democrats from across the state to endorse Vice President Harris. A second Trump term would rip away our reproductive rights and raise costs by nearly $4,000 a year on middle class families – that’s not what Green Bay voters are looking for.”

Also in attendance at the Resch Center rally was legendary Packers quarterback and pro football Hall of Famer Brett Favre. He spoke in support of the former president and was there to appeal to Packers fans as well.

Favre shared why it was important to him to make a trip back to Wisconsin for this event.

“I have not done an event like this before, but I decided it’s time," Favre said. “Why? Do I even have to explain why? Because the stakes are incredibly high. Families across Wisconsin are struggling to make ends meet, people’s salaries are impacted by inflation, it’s getting harder for people to buy their first home. People are losing hope in the American dream.”

Local Wisconsin voters and Trump supporters who were in attendance said seeing their candidate come to the Badger State ahead of the election is a big deal.

“Well, I think it’s very important,” Appleton resident, Shelly Andersen said. “They need to hear and know what the people's needs are, and their complaints are and their difficulties, and what they can do to improve our lives and that’s why we want to send the good ones into office.”

The former President will be back in swing state Wisconsin on Friday, this time in Milwaukee for another political rally.
