TWO RIVERS, Wis. — It’s been six months since Elijah Vue first went missing from Two Rivers. Tuesday Aug. 20 is also the toddler’s 4-year-old birthday.

After thousands of tips and extensive search hours, police have yet to locate Vue.

Ahead of the Vue’s birthday, an array of dinosaurs filled a street-side memorial devoted to him.

While those stuffed animals may fade, law enforcement’s determination to locate Vue has not.

Two Rivers Police Captain Andrew Raatz said he remains optimistic.

“We’re still hopeful that we will locate him, particularly because we’re very confident in our investigation at this point may seem to the public that not much is going on, but we continue to investigate, and we’re very confident information that we do have, that he will be located at some point,” Raatz said.

Over the six-month span, there have been false accounts that Vue has been located. Raatz said the public should be cautious of scams and misinformation.

“There’s been several reports in different states where supposedly Elijah was found. We, of course, followed up on those leads. That is not the case. We will officially report things through us,” Raatz said.

Hundreds of community members, volunteers and law enforcement officers have been involved in the search for Vue.

Those searches took them throughout northeastern Wisconsin, including Manitowoc County.

Raatz said they’re now planning targeted operations.

“We have some more aerial searches that will be taking place. Those searches will expand on the areas we’ve already searched using different types of technology. There’s, for instance, there’s a software that detects like anomalies in the terrain,” Raatz said.

Raatz said law enforcement remains committed to finding Vue even if large-scale searches aren’t happening.

“We certainly do have a full-time investigation going on, in addition to our regular patrol duties, our regular community service and things like that. So you’ll still see that those things happening. It doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about Elijah, because he’s on our minds every single day,” Raatz said.

Six months into the search, the Two Rivers Police Department is asking the public to keep looking and call in tips as its mission remains the same to locate Vue. Anyone with any information about the case can call the tipline at 844-267-6648 or submit information via the Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers P3 app.
