WEST ALLIS, Wis. — The Wisconsin State Fair had record-breaking attendance this year and returned to pre-pandemic levels, with over 1,136,000 fair-goers visiting, according to fair officials.
The previous record was set in 2019 at 1,130,572 attendees. Last year, attendance was 1,043,350.
“I am so proud of the State Fair Park staff, and thankful for our sponsors, vendors, exhibitors, and fairgoers who helped make the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair so successful,” Shari Black, CEO of State Fair Park, said in a press release. “The past few years we have focused on enhancing the State Fair Park experience and brand, as well as bringing additional value to our consumers. This year’s attendance and revenue are a testament to the hard work of everyone I mentioned, and I am truly grateful to work with such an amazing team.”
The Wisconsin State Fair ran for 11 days, from Aug. 1 to 11.
During the 11-day span, over 10,000 competitive exhibits were judged, up to 352,000 Original Cream Puffs were served and more than 90,000 trips were taken on the SkyGlider.
This year’s Sporkies winner, Deep-Friend Lemonade Bites, had over 28,000 orders. The Drinkies winner, Fairway Fusion, had nearly 9,000 orders.
The State Fair raised $426,000 during the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction and another $65,080 during the Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction. Fair officials said a portion of those funds will benefit Wisconsin’s youth agriculture programs and provide scholarships.
“While the Wisconsin State Fair is often recognized as one of the top fairs in North America, breaking our own attendance record proves that we truly deserve this recognition. I believe we are the best State Fair in the country, and I’d like to thank the fairgoers who joined us for the best 11 days of summer and congratulate the State Fair Park Board and staff. It is their passion and dedication that made this a record-breaking year,” John Yingling, chairman of the board, said in a press release.
Wisconsin State Fair also announced its 2025 dates; the fair will be Thursday, July 31 through Sunday, Aug. 10.
