GREEN BAY, Wis. — The position of Green Bay Packers quarterback is officially in the hands of Jordan Love for the near future. This weekend Love inked a four-year, $220 million contract extension with the Packers. 

Fans inside the Packers Pro Shop said they hope this deal means continued quarterback stability for the green and gold.

Number 10 will lead the Packers for the next several seasons. Fans said Love’s four-year contract extension is a wise investment.

“I think in today’s environment with the NFL, you gotta sign them for that. It’s only gonna change. It’s going to be more expensive in four years, so money well spent,” Rich Franklin said.

“Might be a little bit high right now, but he’s proven that he’s capable of doing things,” Rob Zeznanski said.

Packers fan Jacob Carlson was busy buying new Packers gear for this season. He said franchise quarterbacks like Love are hard to find, so he’s happy the Packers locked him down.

“I’m good with it. I feel like in 10 years, it’ll be a bargain, you know, or by the end of the contract, it’ll be a bargain. So I’m fine with it,” Carlson said.

“There’s teams out there, like our rivals, that are still on a search. So we’re very lucky,” Carlson said.

“I hope we’re talking about Jordan Love in 20 years, the same way as we talk about Favre and Aaron Rodgers,” Franklin said.

With a young quarterback and one of the youngest NFL rosters, fans have high hopes for this season after last season’s playoff run.

“I think they’re going to grow from last year and this year, set our sights on the Super Bowl,” Franklin said.

“I think playoffs is an expectation at this point. Anything more is probably a bonus, but with the run we had last year, I think hopes are set high, and it wouldn’t surprise us if we find ourselves in an NFC Championship game or competing for a Super Bowl,” Carlson said.

It’s unprecedented in NFL history to land three franchise quarterbacks in a row. It’s too early to tell if Love will reach the exclusive air of Favre and Rodgers, but Packers fans said they are excited to find out.
