GREEN BAY, Wis. — Quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers have agreed to record 4-year, $220 million contract extension, General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced Saturday.
The deal will make Love the highest paid quarterback in NFL history.
Love's new deal includes a $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in new guarantees.
The long-awaited contract extension was looming over the start of Packers Training Camp, which began Monday.
Love was at Packers Training Camp this week, but not a participant in practice until the deal was done because of injury risk.
Brian Gutekunst said Saturday morning that Love would sign the deal and then practice with the team.
The Packers started 3-6 last year with Love as the starting quarterback after trading Aaron Rodgers to the Jets in the offseason. Love and the Packers' season turned around in the second half of the year.
In the team's last eight regular season games and the playoff win over the Cowboys, Love had 21 touchdown passes and one interception.
For the 2023 season, Love threw 32 touchdown passes, which was second-most in the NFL.
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst, who traded up for Love in the 2020 draft, said the Packers view Love as their franchise quarterback who they want to keep for a long time.
