MILWAUKEE— The City of Milwaukee is seeing its summer boost of visitors, thanks to dozens of festivals and events.
This summer has been big for the city. Between hosting Summerfest and the Republican National Convention, it’s already been a busy summer so far.
“I think what’s exciting is that that event served as a springboard really into the rest of the summer in Milwaukee,” Milwaukee Downtown Business Improvement District’s Erica Green said.
After the wrap of the RNC, and Northwestern Mutual’s annual meeting, the July 27-28 weekend is packed full. It kicks off with Harley-Davidson’s Homecoming, Milwaukee Air and Water Show and Germanfest.
“It’s going to be busy,” Deb Wolf, Germanfest vice president, said. “Again, I hope everyone has great attendance. It's great for the city,”
On Wednesday, setup for this weekend’s events was already underway by the lakefront.
Green said it’s yet another opportunity to show off Milwaukee in a big way.
“This summer has been a really unique opportunity for Milwaukee to show off how hospitable we are,” Green said. “We have seen our businesses, residents, our community open their arms and really welcome a lot of visitors here. We have a lot of festivals, really important conventions. It's been a summer where we have a chance to roll out the red carpet here."
