MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport said it expected to welcome 11,000 passengers Saturday alone as delegates and supporters arrive ahead of the Republican National Convention.
Among the early arrivals was Kevin Lynn, a delegate from Philadelphia.
“What I am here to do is push an agenda where we don’t forget the promises made by President Trump in 2016 and attempted to implement in his first term in office, and that is to greatly restrict and regulate immigration,” said Lynn.
Lynn is the founder of U.S. Tech Workers, an organization that represents laid-off Americans whose jobs have been outsourced through employment Visa programs. He is confident that the Republican Party will continue to back these efforts.
“They are literally displacing seasoned workers in our workforce as well as those who are graduated from college, STEM and are literally being pushed out by foreign workers,” he added.
Another delegate, Jerry Cummings from Portland, Ore., landed in Milwaukee for the first time to attend the convention.
“I’m very excited to be here at the Republican National Convention,” said Cummings. “We are the party. Who knows who our nominee is going to be? We are here to make it official and kick this campaign off with a rousing, great campaign start party.”
Cummings said he has a clear agenda for the week, focused on solidifying support for former President Donald Trump and turning this state red.
“We really have one simple goal and that is to show the country that we are unified, we are ready, we are organized and we’re going to take this election by storm,” said Cummings.
In this battleground state, Cummings said it’s crucial to get his voice and others in the party heard.
“My expectation is that you’re going to see a lot of Republicans showing the people of Wisconsin that we’re here to support your city, we’re here to support your state and we’re here to let you know that we are the party that is going to put America back on track,” he added.
