MADISON, Wis. — As the Republican National Convention (RNC) draws near, Union Cab of Madison Cooperative representatives said their team has geared up for a bustling period, anticipating a surge in demand for their services transporting delegates to the main event.

"When we found out that the RNC was coming here," Bill Carter, Business Manager of Union Cab said, "We remembered from 2020 that we expected a lot of people to stay in Madison, maybe even more so for the DNC."

Carter said the RNC has set aside 1,500 delegate hotel rooms, and Union Cab has mobilized its hundred-person team to ensure seamless transportation for those incoming individuals.

Marshall Rauzman, HR leader at Union Cab, said he made extensive preparations months in advance.

"I personally visited all of Madison's top hotels to make sure they knew we were here and ready to accommodate high volumes."

Equipped with six new vans and a strong commitment to ADA accessibility, Union Cab is prepared to handle diverse passenger needs.

"We are able to take all comers, including wheelchairs, non-wheelchairs, and even pets. I can imagine a little dog in a little hat coming," said Rauzman.

Logistics also play a crucial role in their preparations.

"Looking at the maps, making sure I remember where all the hotels are," Rauzman said. "Finding the fastest routes from hotels to the airport and to Milwaukee, and keeping an eye out for the best deals and special events in town."

Meanwhile, Union Cab also anticipates extended service hours, with bars in Madison staying open until 4 a.m. Carter said third shift drivers are poised for a busy week.
