A flash flood warning was issued for the city after 1 to 3 inches of rain fell in a short amount of time. A flooding emergency prompted several water rescues in north Appleton Friday afternoon.

Emergency personnel said the water in one north Appleton neighborhood was up to 3 feet deep.

Roy and Sally Hinz have lived near this area for 53 years and said the waters have been high at times, but they’ve never seen rescue boats for flooding.

Roy Hinz said he’s praying for the rain to stop.

"I'm hoping it doesn't come any further and get into our basement. I hope that the sanitary sewers don't back up and I feel very sorry for all our neighbors out there caught up in this flooding," Roy Hinz said.

Emergency and rescue personnel went house to house warning residents to evacuate because more flooding could be possible.
