WISCONSIN — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) said Friday one of its partners, Disability Rights Wisconsin (DRW), had a “security incident.” This may have exposed protected health information of 19,150 Wisconsinites on Medicaid.

DHS said the security incident was discovered after there was “suspicious activity” on a DRW email account. The two organizations are investigating the incident.

DRW is notifying Wisconsin Medicaid members — whose information could have been accessed during this incident — of the situation via mail. They will have access to a call center dedicated to answering questions they have about the incident. Wisconsinites who received a notification letter, and those who have questions about the security incident, can call 888-733-3814 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. starting June 24.

Those impacted will be offered free credit monitoring for a year.
