MILWAUKEE— This Friday, the U.S. Secret Service will share security measures that will be in place in downtown Milwaukee during the Republican National Convention (RNC). It will be the first time they make details public.

Security for the event has been in the works for over a year. It includes Milwaukee Police and other local law enforcement agencies, as well as the U.S. Secret Service, FBI and Wisconsin Army National Guard.

About a week and a half ago, Brian Dorow, the president and chief operating officer of Secure Resources Unlimited, got the call from the RNC organizing committee, telling him that he and his team were chosen to serve. Ever since, he said they’ve been working around the clock to plan for the RNC and go over safety strategies.

“We’re really excited to showcase our talent, our abilities and our capacity to make sure that this is a great event,” Dorow said.

Dorow, a former Waukesha police officer, has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement and federal service under his belt. He served as a deputy assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security when Donald Trump was president. Dorow also ran as a Republican during a special election in 2015 to fill the State Senate seat vacated by Paul Farrow.

Dorow has a team of about 300 people who work for him. He said on average, Security Resources Unlimited provides security for at least 90 different clients throughout southeastern Wisconsin each week.

During the RNC, Dorow said the firm's primary role will be supporting public safety entities.

“We will supplement law enforcement as the extra ears, extra eyes, give people direction,” he said. “Direct people to locations who may be lost. So, we are a supplement to the existing law enforcement.”

He said his team will be stationed wherever they are needed, in and around the convention throughout the week of the event. That could include hotels, event spaces and parking structures. They will undergo training and practice over the next few weeks in and around Fiserv Forum.

“There’s no margin for error,” said Dorow. “When we put our plan in place, we want to make sure we’ve looked at everything. The environmental factors, the traffic, anything that may impact our post order.”

Dorow said his firm are proud to serve at such a big event, and is focused on keeping everyone safe, so that Wisconsin shines in the national spotlight.

“Something of this magnitude, where you have thousands and thousands of people coming from all over the country to convene in the city of Milwaukee is just fascinating for us,” Dorow said.
