MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputy sheriff shot and killed a suspect on Sunday, May 5.
Slinger Police Department issued a bulletin that it was searching for a 47-year-old man facing criminal charges for alleged domestic violence, allegedly exposing himself to a minor, alleged child abuse and alleged disorderly conduct. Officials said the suspect was armed and noted he had threatened “suicide by cop,” according to a MCSO press release.
Police officers with the Germantown Police Department saw the man just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday. MCSO said a pursuit then ensued, reaching speeds up to 100 mph. MCSO said multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase.
MCSO said the suspect abandoned his vehicle on Highway 145 near the Granville Dog Park. He fled the area on foot.
MCSO said he was then seen near the intersection of N. 107th Street and Good Hope Road. Officers from multiple agencies approached him, including MCSO officers.
The suspect “engaged the officers before the deputy fired multiple rounds.”
“Lifesaving measures were performed on the man, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, where a knife was found,” MCSO said.
MCSO said the shooting is being investigated by the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team with the Brookfield Police Department being the lead agency for this case.
The deputy sheriff who shot and killed the suspect has served MCSO for seven and a half years. The officer was placed on administrative leave, pending the investigation into the shooting.
Officials did not release the name of the suspect or sheriff involved.
