EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — An ongoing exploration of all-things-Wisconsin has lead to so many unique discoveries by one couple from Eau Claire that they've decided to write a book about them.
"We love road trips and we love quirky things," said Tom Manus, whom along with his wife, Kristi Flick Manus, wrote the new book, "Secret Wisconsin: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure." "We are travel writers who love to road trip by two lane highways and back roads, and we love finding anything that's basically not on the first few pages of Google search."
The couple said that in the midst of some off-the-beaten path discoveries chronicled in the book, there were plenty of discoveries that many Wisconsinites may walk by every day and not know a thing about them.
"The State Capitol is full of fossils," Flick Manus said. "You can look for them — that surprised me. I've been the Capitol numerous times but didn't know about the fossils in the stone."
