WISCONSIN — One week after his arrest, Maxwell Anderson has been charged with killing and dismembering 19-year-old Sade Robinson, according to a criminal complaint.
She had told people she had a date the night of April 1. She did not show up to work the next day and was not returning calls.
Maxwell Anderson was allegedly the last person to see Robinson on April 1.
The last time anyone else heard from her was that same night when she sent a friend a SnapChat message from Duke’s on Water, a Milwaukee bar.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) obtained Robinson’s cell phone records. The last text Robinson sent was with a phone that belonged to Maxwell Anderson. They discussed meeting downtown and going out to dinner.
Surveillance video showed the two of them met at Twisted Fisherman where they ate and had drinks.
Robinson was reported missing to the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) on April 2 at about 9 p.m. by a friend. She was not returning calls.
After she was reported missing by news outlets, someone else who knew Robinson went to the police. They were connected to her via Life360, a location sharing app. The app showed Robinson’s phone was in Warnimont Park in Cudahy, Wis., on April 2 at 4:30 a.m.
On April 2, police said a human leg was found in Warnimont Park. According to the criminal complaint, surveillance video taken documented a car driving to the area. The driver rammed the gate of the Cudahy Water Department.
Car parts from a Honda Civic were found at the scene.
A Honda Civic, which belonged to Robinson, was found at 29th Street and Lisbon Avenue on April 2. Her car had been set on fire.
On April 4, MCSO executed a search warrant at Maxwell Anderson’s home at 3161 South 39th Street in Milwaukee. They found blood on bedding and walls that lead to the basement. Several gas containers were located in the garage and storage area.
On April 6, MPD canvased the area where the car was set on fire.
Two people said they saw a man walking away from a car that had been set on fire at about 7:30 a.m. Witnesses told police they saw a white man toss a lighter into a Honda Civic.
Police continued to canvas the area. They found a video of Maxwell Anderson getting on a bus at 8:12 a.m. that was southbound on 35th Street. The bus footage showed Maxwell Anderson wearing clothing that matched descriptions witnesses gave from the scene of the car fire.
In the criminal complaint, officials said that due to the “circumstances surrounding disappearance of Robinson” and “the recovery of the human leg that was preliminarily identified as Robinson’s,” they have “concluded” that she is dead.
“The facts mentioned in this complaint cause Complainant to conclude that the Defendant intentionally killed and then dismembered Robinson with the intent to conceal the homicide, and it occurred between the arrival at the Defendant’s residence and his departure from the Warnimont Park area,” the complaint reads.
Steven Anderson, Maxwell Anderson's father, released the following statement on behalf of his family on Thursday, April 18:
"On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to express our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Sade Robinson. We are shocked and devasted by her senseless death.
"To Sade’s mother and father, words cannot express our sorrow for the incomprehensible pain and grief you are going through. We join the entire community in celebrating Sade’s life.”
"To the media, please allow us privacy during this time as we process this terrible tragedy."
