FOND DU LAC, WIS. — A 70,000-square foot addition to the Aurora Medical Center — Fond du Lac is scheduled to open its doors for patient care on Monday, May 6.
Construction for the new expansions began in 2022 and is now in its final stages. The additions to the medical center are an 8-bay emergency department, 10 overnight stay beds for patients in need of orthopedics, general and abdominal surgeries, an operating and recovery area, pharmacy, diagnostics and labs.
The center will comprise more than 65 clinicians who represent 28 medical specialties, including urgent care, physical therapy and outpatient surgery.
“It’s important for high-quality health care to also be local,” said Jeff Bard, president of Aurora Medical Center — Fond du Lac, Aurora Medical Center — Oshkosh and North Wisconsin Area President for Aurora Health Care, in a press release. “We recognize that many residents have been traveling for health care services and we want to ensure that we have convenient access to health care in this community.”
Patients requiring acute sub-specialty care such as labor and delivery services, cardiac catheterization or interventional stroke treatment can receive care at the closest hospital, including Aurora Medical Center — Oshkosh or another Aurora Health Care facility.
The public is invited to tour the facility before the grand opening on Thursday, April 25, from 4 to 7 p.m..
