MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Brewers announced Wednesday that they signed pitcher Brandon Woodruff to a two-year contract with a mutual option for 2026.
There’s no getting around that Woodruff may not pitch in 2024 after shoulder surgery. In my opinion, this is still worth it.
This is not just any pitcher. Woodruff is an outstanding competitor, who’s a big reason why the Brewers have been successful in recent years.
He aches to pitch big games and loves the Brewers. His genuine tears when he found out he couldn’t pitch in the playoffs last year showed that.
His home run off Clayton Kershaw in the 2018 NLCS is part of Brewers folklore.
I know you can’t run a professional organization on sentiment and memories. Yes, there’s a chance he may never be the same pitcher again.
There’s also a chance that he can still be pretty good. Don’t you want that to be with the Brewers?
