MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police officer James Nowak had a 0.241 blood alcohol concentration (BAC) when he crashed into a semi-truck, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner reported on Thursday.
That’s three times the legal BAC limit in Wisconsin.
Nowak was off duty when he crashed into a semi-truck on Dec. 3 in Oak Creek, Wis. The semi-truck was attempting to make a u-turn.
Nowak died in the hospital from his injuries on Dec. 6.
Nowak, 30, served with the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) for more than a decade. He was the policing partner of MPD officer Peter Jerving. Jerving died in the line of duty nearly a year ago.
