GREEN BAY, Wis.— The Packers hope that the home fans at Lambeau Field will help Sunday at Noon when they host the Chargers.
The Chargers may be 4-5, but they have plenty of talent on offense. They feature running back Austin Ekeler, wide receiver Keenan Allen and quarterback Justin Herbert.
“There's not a throw he can't make,” said Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur of Herbert. “He does a great job protecting the football. Makes great decisions. Very decisive, will throw into tight windows. Keenan Allen's a monster. He leads them, and Ekeler’s back there. They’ve had some unfortunate injuries, but I think they’ve got a lot of playmakers, guys that are capable of making explosion plays.”
Packers rookie receiver Jayden Reed caught a touchdown pass Sunday in Pittsburgh. He said the results have started to come, but his approach hasn’t changed.
“I've been saying the same thing since camp,” said Reed. “Just getting a better feel for the offense. I understand my job and just doing those kind of things. Paying attention to the details and also study your opponent, know what they do and how to attack them.”
Packers receiver Christian Watson has taken some heat of late for not fighting for the ball hard enough.
“I've been playing this game a long time,” said Watson. “I have been through a lot of adversity. It’s just on a bigger scale with more opinions coming about. I'm only worried about what people in this room are saying, what people in my home are saying. So, that's kind of just outside noise. And I mean, at the end of the day, I'm trying to find a way to be better each and every week, regardless if I go for 150 (yards) or if I go for zero. I try to find a way to to get better regardless of the circumstances.”
“My message to Christian is just keep your confidence,” said Packers quarterback Jordan Love. “Don't let any of that stuff ever let your confidence waver, or anything like that. I got complete trust in Christian. I know he knows this, but I trust all of our receivers. The ball is going to come out, regardless.”
The Packers’ secondary is facing some challenges. Cornerback Jaire Alexander and safety Rudy Ford were unable to practice Wednesday because of injuries.
