MILWAUKEE — At least one Democrat will be inside Fiserv Forum for Wednesday night's Republican presidential primary debate: Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
"I'm going to be in Fiserv Forum watching the debate, live and in-person," Johnson said.
Wednesday night's debate comes less than a year ahead of the 2024 Republican National Convention, also set in Milwaukee. The mayor said the city's planning to take what it's already learned ahead of the debate to make next July's event even better for those in attendance.
"Milwaukee is a city of spectacles, a city of festivals, it's a city of celebrations," Johnson said. "I think over the past several weeks, we've seen that Milwaukee's able to host large-scale events and the RNC, I think, will be no different next year and certainly the debate coming up this week in Milwaukee will be no different either."
