SAUK COUNTY, Wis. — The search for James Yoblonski is continuing nearly a month after he was first reported missing, the Sauk County sheriff’s office said. Now, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting them, Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister announced Thursday.
Yoblonski is 13 years old, weighs 120 pounds and is 5’11”. He has a half-inch scar on the back of his neck, blue or green eyes and brown hair.
Yoblonski was first reported missing by his father on June 12. Authorities said they initially believed Yoblonski could be near Devil’s Lake State Park. He was last seen wearing red shoes, blue jeans, an unknown shirt and baseball hat. Officials said Yoblonski left his home overnight in a family vehicle. That vehicle was found on U.S. Highway 12.
Law enforcement and Yoblonski’s family have conducted several searches of the highway area since June 12. Meister said law enforcement has also searched “several other locations that were believed to be areas of interest.”
In the Thursday update, investigators said they've also conducted searches on several electronic devices that were believed to have been in Yoblonski's possession before he disappeared. Investigators said they found several internet searches inside physical locations inside the state. Each of these browser searches were followed up with physical searches in several areas. However, they said they have not produced any evidence that Yoblonski was ever there after his disappearance.
His devices also showed searches earlier this year about how to travel out of state.
Bureau investigators have been administering lie-detector tests to family members and potential witnesses, Sgt. Drew Bulin, a detective with the Sauk County Sheriff's Office, said.
William Yoblonski has offered a $10,000 reward for information that leads to finding his son.
“I just want my son back,” he said Thursday.
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to contact them at 608-355-4495.
“We will continue this investigation until it is resolved,” Meister said.
