WISCONSIN — Many New York Jets fans, including arguably the biggest New York Jets fan himself, seem more-than-ready to welcome Aaron Rodgers to town this week, in the wake of the reports of the trade deal between the Jets and the Green Bay Packers.
"Aaron Rodgers is arguably a Top 10 quarterback of all-time, maybe a Top 5 — he's that good," said Ed Anzalone, better known to NFL fans and the New York Jets as "Fireman Ed." "He still has it. He hasn't lost a step and just to have an opportunity for him to come to the Jets ... It just worked out perfectly for us."
Anzalone said he is hoping Rodgers will play at least two seasons for the Jets. For now, his focus is squarely on this season, with a team he said he feels could win the Super Bowl.
"The fan base has been starving, you've got to understand that. We're crazed dogs; we've been in the desert a long time waiting for the water," Anzalone said. "I think Aaron Rodgers can deliver that water to this fan base."
