RACINE, Wis. — Visitors at the Racine Zoo can now meet the friendly arctic foxes in their new home.
As winter came to an end, the staff was hard at work putting the finishing details into the new home for Echo, the 6-year-old male fox, and Luna, the 6-year-old female.
The new enclosure features scenic vistas, is heated so the foxes can continue to be on exhibit even in colder temperatures and there's additional space that'll allow zookeepers to put in enrichment items. It will encourage their natural behavior, such as finding hidden food items.
The new exhibit is in the southeast corner of the zoo, next to the bear exhibit, overlooking Lake Michigan. According to zoo staff, the two made the move seamlessly.
Visitors will also get a chance to see them during the zoo's annual Eggstravaganza event this Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
