WISCONSIN — While temperatures have remained relatively mild this winter in Wisconsin, utility prices have spiked, leaving more and more people looking for options to both stay warm and continue to pay their bills.
"If you receive your bill and can't pay it or find it's going to create a financial hardship, please give us a call," said Cindy Tomlinson, Alliant Energy's external communications manager. "If you do so, we can help you set up payment plans, we can help connect you to different resources that might be available to you— the last thing we want is for anyone to have their power shut off."
Tomlinson said customers looking to cut back on their energy use and save on their utility bill have some quick, inexpensive steps they can take now, to save more money later.
"Certainly putting some plastic on your windows if you feel air coming through those," Tomlinson said. "Turning down your thermostat, talking with us or looking at the option of budget billing, getting your furnace tuned up — it's never too late to do that — [and] changing your furnace filters can make a huge difference."
