WISCONSIN — With more extremely low temperatures on the horizon across Wisconsin, many may be seeking a warm place to sleep.

There are several cities in the state opening warming stations to keep vulnerable residents safe. Services can vary, but recreation centers, libraries and churches are commonly used as warming stations during the day.

Here’s a list of some warming shelters across the state.

Milwaukee

There are three 24-hour warming centers in the city:

  • Repairers of the Breach, at 1335 W. Vliet St. It opens as a daytime warming room and when temperatures hit 20 degrees or below, it also opens as an overnight warming shelter. Hours are from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • St. Benedict the Moor, at 924 W. State St. This also opens as a warming shelter when temperatures get below zero.
  • Marcia P. Coggs Building, located on 1220 West Vliet Street, which is being opened for the holiday weekend in a joint effort by Milwaukee County and the Southeast chapter of the American Red Cross due to cold temperatures.
