MILWAUKEE — From the Food Network to Bon Appétit Magazine, baker Jessie Sheehan gets plenty of attention for her quick and easy baked goods recipes.

While Sheehan has made a career creating easy to follow recipes for home bakers, she also enjoys having the chance to cook for her own family. It is something this New York-based baker had a chance to do during a recent visit to the Milwaukee area to visit family.

“I mean it is a cliche but 100% true, making food and sharing food is about love, about showing gratitude, and affection,” said Sheehan as she baked a sour cream pear cake for her sister- and brother-in-law to enjoy.

Sheehan recently authored a new book called "Snackable Bakes," which features over 100 recipes. From writing and testing recipes, to publicity and marketing, Sheehan said compiling a cookbook takes considerable time and effort.

“People don’t really understand what goes into making a cookbook. If they did understand, they would never write one,” joked Sheehan.

While Sheehan honed her baking skills in the Empire State, when she visits Wisconsin, she always appreciates the culinary traditions of our state.

“Kringles, cheese curds, I had a butter burger at Solly’s Grille the other night. Amazing!” said Sheehan. “Baking and food, I love the Midwest, period, and Milwaukee holds a special place in my heart.”

Sheehan’s new book, “Snackable Bakes” is available at bookstores everywhere and is also sold on Amazon and other online retailers.
