MILWAUKEE — Travel through Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) just got easier. On Tuesday, CLEAR announced the launch of new expedited security lanes at the airport, where members can simply verify their identity through their eyes or fingers.

This method of verification eliminates the need for travelers to take out their wallet and driver’s license. Once verified, the traveler will be escorted by a CLEAR ambassador directly to TSA physical security, which will reduce the time waiting in line at the security checkpoint.

“Our partnership with CLEAR will elevate the customer experience for Milwaukee travelers while showcasing the innovation we continue to cultivate at the airport,” said Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport Director Brian Dranzik. “We’re confident passengers will love the new technology and take advantage of the opportunity to travel faster through the airport.”

Not only will the launch change the speed of travel, it will also bolster the economy. In a press release, MKE Airport officials said they expect the launch to generate about 34 jobs and more than $2.6 million in local economic gains.

“CLEAR’s partnership with Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is a strong example of our ongoing efforts to bring jobs and innovation to Milwaukee County,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.

CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker said they’re excited to expand into their 45th airport, with MKE being their first airport in Wisconsin.

But that doesn’t mean travelers can’t take advantage of the expedited lanes on both ends of their journey. CLEAR already serves nine of MKE’s top 10 domestic destinations.

Crowley said this investment in MKE just provides another reason to choose the airport when traveling to or from the state.

In order to access the expedited lanes, travelers will need to opt-in to the CLEAR Plus membership, which is billed annually and costs about $16 a month.

However, if you’re a Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, or American Express member, you are eligible for a discount. Any newly enrolled active military, veterans and government officials can also get a discounted membership.
