MILWAUKEE — Eligible Milwaukee residents can get a $100 gift card for rolling up their sleeves for the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Tuesday, the City of Milwaukee Health Department announced they will launch a vaccination incentive program that begins Thursday. Those eligible, which includes anyone ages five and older, who receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at any Milwaukee Health Department vaccination clinic will receive the gift card on site. More than 250,000 Milwaukee residents are eligible.

Just over 56% of the city has received at least one dose of the vaccine, health officials said.

“Vaccination remains our strongest tool against the COVID-19 virus,” Milwaukee Health Commissioner Kirsten Johnson said in a statement. “It is heartbreaking to continue to see people lose their lives to COVID-19 when they could have been protected by the vaccine. We hope that this incentive will help those who are on the fence make the life-saving decision to get vaccinated.”

The Milwaukee Health Department has 1,000 gift cards available on a first-come basis at the Northwest Health Center, Southside Health Center, Menomonee Valley Site, and any mobile vaccination clinic. Hours and locations for health centers and a full schedule of mobile clinics are available can be found at milwaukee.gov/COVIDvax.

The city last launched a first-come, first-serve $100 gift card program this past September.
