MAZOMANIE, Wis. — One of the finalists for the Packers Fan Hall of Fame loves the team so much, he’s got them on his body every day.
It all started in 1984. At training camp, Packers legend Reggie White stopped to take a photo with one kid. Just one. That kid was Jeff Yasick. He called it “a dream come true."
The Mazomanie man now has a bedroom packed (forgive the pun) with team memorabilia. He’s got hats, bobbleheads, coins, a lamp, curtains, you name it.
At work, Jeff’s friends pitched in to get him a Packers helmet. That’s where he earns the cash to pay for his tickets.
“I cheer really loud on defense. And I pump up the crowd,” he said. “I always pump up the card when I’m there.”
Everybody in section 129 knows him. One of his cousins nominated him to be in the Packers Fan Hall of Fame.
“About two three days ago, it was just sinking in,” he said. “If I win, then I get to go to more Packer games.”
Jeff has cerebral palsy. Win or lose, the Packers are basically part of him: he gets his leg braces made with the Packers helmet, and green and gold straps.
Voting for the next inductee into the Fan Hall of Fame ends January 31. You can vote once per day. The winner will be announced at Lambeau Field in February.
