FRANKLIN, Wis (SPECTRUM NEWS)- The number of coworking spaces are growing across Wisconsin. It is not only happening in city centers like downtown Milwaukee or the Madison capitol square, but in suburban areas as well. Coworking is where small businesses can rent workspace at a central office and interact with other business owners.

Several new coworking sites have opened up in the first two months of 2020 in suburban Milwaukee and suburban Madison.

One new facility is Bullpen Coworking in Franklin, part of the city’s Ballpark Commons development. Developers say that interest has been strong since the project was announced, and say 2/3rds of spaces are already rented, including all of the private office spaces. Developer Matt Doyle says that tapping into the suburban market is important for small businesses who don’t want to drive into downtown Milwaukee or pay downtown rents.

“When you look at the people interested in becoming a part of  Bullpen we have a lot of people in the freelance or independent workspace. About a third of the country falls into that category, giving them a place that inspires them to work and collaborate.” Says Doyle

A membership at Bullpen costs about $150 a month, with private office or dedicated desk space costing more.
